What is a Surefix Unlined Clip?

SUREFIX Pipe clips are essential components in plumbing and construction, designed to secure pipes in place and maintain their alignment. Surefix clips come in various range of sizes up to 6” with an M8/M10 Dual Boss, making them versatile for different applications, whether in residential, commercial, or industrial settings. Understanding the types, uses, and installation methods of pipe clips can help ensure a reliable piping system.

One of the primary types of Surefix pipe clips is our 316 Stainless Steel clip, which is lightweight and resistant to corrosion. The Surefix clips mentioned above are most commonly used for securing 4” Soil and 15cu, 22cu, 28cu 35cu copper pipes, commonly found in drainage and plumbing systems. They are quick and easy to install, requiring just a screw to hold them in place. Head over to our Surefix 316 Stainless Steel clip section as these are ideal for indoor or outdoor applications where moisture is a significant concern.

Surefix two bolt split band pipe clips, on the other hand, are more robust and suitable for heavier pipes. Our stock split band are manufactured from BZP coated mild steel, which offer excellent durability and resistance to rust and corrosion. These clips are often used in heating and cooling systems, as well as in industrial settings where pipes may be exposed to harsh conditions. Metal clips can be more challenging to install due to their sturdiness, but they provide a secure hold that can withstand significant stress.

The Surefix M8/M10 Pipe Clip and the Surefix two bolt split band are also ideal to secure our Kingspan Phenolic Pipe Support and our ROCKTHERM Pipe Supports

When it comes to installation, professional techniques are crucial for ensuring the effectiveness of pipe clips. The first step is to determine the correct size of the clip based on the pipe’s diameter. It’s essential to ensure that the clip fits snugly around the pipe without being too tight, which could cause damage. Once the appropriate clip is selected, it should be positioned at regular intervals along the length of the pipe. This spacing will depend on the type of pipe and its application

In addition to securing pipes, clips also play a crucial role in preventing vibrations and movement that can lead to wear and tear over time. Properly installed pipe clips help maintain the integrity of the piping system, reducing the risk of leaks and failures. Regular inspections of pipe clips are also recommended, as wear and corrosion can occur, especially in outdoor or industrial environments.

In summary, pipe clips are vital components in maintaining the stability and functionality of piping systems. With various types available on the UK market, including plastic, metal, and adjustable clips, there’s a solution for almost any application. Understanding how to select and install these clips correctly can lead to a more reliable and efficient plumbing or construction project. Whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or a professional contractor, having a good grasp of pipe clips will undoubtedly enhance your work quality and longevity of the piping systems you install or maintain.
